  • Day : 2 Natin to Gui

    Altitude: 3000 m/ 9,800 ft

    Trek Distance: 4-5 km | 4-5 hrs

    Accommodation: Tents

The trekking for Dayara Bugyal will begin from the Natin village. Today we will trek to Gui. The trekking distance is about 4-5 kilometers and would take around 4-5 hours to reach.

In the morning you will wake up to good views of the mountains, you can have breakfast. Then we will start our trekking for the day, we will start early in the morning. The trail today will begin with a walk through the jungle, and gradually climbing on the easy terrains.

There are silver and gold oak trees all around. The trails are well marked and beautiful to walk through. Also, they are easy and beginner friendly as they ascend gradually. Make sure you carry enough water, at least 2 liters, as there are no water sources on the way.

As you move closer to Gui campsite, the mountain views become more prominent as you gain altitude. The trail is mostly through the forested area that becomes denser as you trek towards Gui. It is mostly Maple and Oak trees and occasionally Rhododendrons, that are vibrant and bloom during the spring. During the winters, the trails and trees are almost covered with snow.

As you reach Gui, you can rest and then take a short walk around the campsite, that would help you acclimatize. Since the campsite is also picturesque, you can take pictures and enjoy the view around. Then at night enjoy the dinner and rest in tents.

  • Day : 3 Gui to Chilapada

    Altitude (Chilpada): 3,300 m/ 10,800 ft

    Trek Distance: 3 km | 2 hrs

    Accommodation: Tents

Today we will trek from Gui to Chilapada, the distance is about 3 kilometers, you can cover the distance in around 2-3 hours. For today 1 liter of water would be enough during the trek. In the morning you will have breakfast in the mountains then we will start our trekking for the day. Today’s trek is comparatively easy, the trail rises slowly as the forest clears, and you reach the next camping site Chilapada. It is a short trek. The trail follows out of the Gui campsite and the mountains on the other side that were hidden come closer into the view. During the winters there is snow on the trails, the Gui Thatch offers beautiful views of Srikanth Peak, and Gangotri I, II, and III peaks. You can also spot the Jaonli Peak and a few other peaks while trekking.

As you trek upwards, soak in the beauty of the Himalayas and the charm of the Himalayan forests.

When you reach the Chilapada campsite, you can rest for a while then a hot lunch will be served to you. The campsite is covered with forest. After lunch or evening tea you can stroll around the campsite and explore the nearby area. We would suggest you take these small walks as they help in acclimatization at high altitudes.

Then at night have dinner, enjoy the night sky, and then rest in your tents.

  • Day : 4 Chilapada To Dayara Top and Trek to Nayata

    Altitude

    Dayara Top: 3,700 m/ 12,000 ft

In the morning you will have breakfast at the campsite and then start heading up to the summit. You will begin by walking through the forests, which gradually open to vast meadows. Then you will find yourself trudging into snowy meadows. Chilpada campsite is quite close to the Dayara Meadows, which gives you enough time to explore the meadows. As you enter the meadows, you can spot some Shepherd's huts on the edge of the meadow. During summers, the Dayara meadows serve as pasturelands, and the shepherds shelter their cattle and livestock in these huts. While in winter they remain covered in snow, adding to the landscape’s beauty.

When walking through these meadows with views of Bandarpoonch and other peaks, you will not even know that you are finally closer to the top. The climb at the end is steep, but worth the physical strain because you will end up witnessing stunning snowy views. You can see the Dodital range, which is extremely beautiful. The mountains in backdrop with snowy meadows is truly a remarkable sight. On the way we will have a packed lunch.

Then we will head to the Nayata campsite. The Nayata campsite is a beautiful campsite, surrounded by Maple and Rhododendron trees, that remain covered in snow during winters. We will spend the night here. We will put up our tents, have dinner, and then rest for the next day.

  • Day : 5 Nayata to Natin Village

    Altitude: 2,250 m/ 7,500 ft

    Distance: 5 km | 3 hrs

Today, the journey among the meadows and mountains of Dayra Bugyal will come to an end. We will descend back to Natin. It is around 5 kilometers away. Since it is easier to descend, we would take around 3 hours to reach Natin.

After about an hour of trekking, you can see the Natin village as well as Raithal from a distance. Continue trekking on the trails until you reach the base.

Throughout the trail, you can relive the fond moments from the ascent days. It seems as if the mountain peaks are calling you back. Natin is a lively village where children and villagers can be seen meandering around. Here, you will have a delicious hot lunch. The overnight stay will be in a guesthouse at Natin. After your lunch you can explore the village or rest. Then at night we will have dinner and the next day we will head back to Dehradun.

After taking a memorable group picture, get into the cab that will take you back to Dehradun. The distance between Natin to Dehradun is around 200 kilometers and might take up to 7-8 hours. The drive will again be a scenic one, you will drive through the mountains, and valleys, and with the Bhagirathi River. This drive will mark an end to your memorable trip to Dayara Bugyal.

Breakfast and lunch for the day are excluded. You will reach Dehradun by 5 PM, from here you can continue with the return journey as you might have planned.
